Why I chose Journalism
Writing is my passion. I write when I'm happy, sad or mad. I write when I'm busy. I write when I'm bored. My entire life revolves around writing, and I love it. I chose journalism as my career path because it allows me to combine my passion for writing with my curiosity to find a compelling story. One of my journalism professors always told me "you aren't a good journalist unless you are always curious."
I've included these journalism article in my writing and rhetoric portfolio because I hope to be a professional journalist one day, working for a world-renowned news publication. My goal is for my future employers and fellow peers to see these article and notice my love for writing, my intense curiosity and my passion for telling a story.
All of the articles listed below can be found on NSM.Today, a student publication at UCF.

My Articles
One of my favorite articles I've written was "Protesters rally to save lagoon after thousands of fish found dead," because this was very close to home for me. I wrote the entire article, including pictures and edited video, all from my iPhone at the location of the rally for my Mobile Journalism class. This class taught me how to edit video, write a compelling story and take photos for publication all from my iPhone. Please click to link to view the pictures and video from the article.
My article, "Central Florida Crime Spree Frightens UCF Students," is about 2015's crime spree happening all around UCF's main campus. I had the opportunity to speak to several students about how they felt about the recent uptick of crimes in the area.
In my third article, "Sanford film festival to screen UCF grad's film," is a feature story I wrote about film creator and former UCF student, James Noir. This article taught me how to write a well-formulated feature story. I enjoyed tell Noir's story through the power of journalism.
Enjoy!
